K2 have been working alongside maternity healthcare services in the UK, Ireland and across the globe for over 30 years. We are now very proud to be able to extend our support to a medical centre in Uganda by sponsoring their efforts to provide life-saving assistance to mothers and babies during pregnancy and childbirth with access to K2’s award winning Perinatal Training Programme.
Potter’s Village is a Child Crisis and Medical Centre in Kisoro, South West Uganda, that opened its doors in 2007 to offer care to sick and malnourished children, and babies and young children that had been abandoned or orphaned in the area. Having steadily expanded its facilities over the last decade, Potter’s Village was proud to open a fully functioning Antenatal and Maternity Unit in October 2017, which saw the birth of Nyiramutoza (pictured opposite), the first baby born in the new unit, in January this year.
K2 are dedicated to improving maternity care for all, and fully understand the benefits of offering continuing and accessible education and training to all maternity healthcare workers, and so are delighted to give Potter’s Village the opportunity to gain from all that the Perinatal Training Programme can offer. The PTP will enable their clinicians to benefit from comprehensive learning and testing on all aspects of fetal monitoring and maternity crisis management, and we know that this progressive online learning tool will support the invaluable work at Potter’s Village and help further their mission to reduce the number of incidents of maternal and neonatal death in Kisoro.
